In
this program, students will learn the measurement of
thermal conductivity of thin films called the 3 omega
method. Measurements of the thermal conductivity of
thin films are very important in the thermal design
of electronic devices although the measurement is not
easy. Students can enjoy making a narrow metal thin
film for the 3 omega method by using standard micro-fabrication
processes. In addition, they will learn equations for
heat conduction, LabVIEW programming, and how to use
various measuring devices such as an oscilloscope and
a lock-in amplifier. We welcome all motivated students
to join us. |
