The Brain-inspired Integrated System Laboratory, Kyushu Institute of Technology (Yuichiro Tanaka Laboratory)
develops AI systems by integrating multiple functions for the emergence of intelligence toward the realization of robots living with humans.

Brain-inspired AI consisting of the hippocampus, amygdala, and prefrontal cortex models
Current AI requires a large amount of training data and has difficulty to adapt personal situations based on a few experiences.
We aim to realize AI that can learn from a few experiences by mimicking brain functions related to episodic memory.

	  Enhancement of reservoir computing
We focus on reservoir computing, which requires low-training costs and is suitable for edge AI implementations.

We enhance the performance of reservoir computing by extending the structure and algorithm and utilize it for the prefrontal cortex model implementations.

Application for home service robots/edge AI
We apply the brain-inspired AI and the enhanced reservoir computing for edge AIs.
We utilize home service robots, HSR and Kachaka, as platforms for the experiments.
