On June 9th, a press release of a joint research by a research group consisting the center director, Prof. Hirofumi Tanaka, Osaka University, and Toyo University was published. A paper of the research result was accepted and published in Scientific Reports.

On May 26th, a paper “Spoken Digit Classification by In-Materio Reservoir Computing With Neuromorphic Atomic Switch Networks” submitted by a research group of visiting professor of this center, Distinguished Prof. Jim Zewski (UCLA) was published in the academic journal “frontiers in Nanotechnology.” The journal is open access and can be viewed from the link below.

The 4th Neumorph Seminar was held online on April 30, 2021.

Dr. Takeshi Nishida from KiQ Robotics Corp. gave a lecture on “Reversible Automation.”

The lecture attracted a lot of attention so that 76 participants attended the seminar maximally.

The kick-off symposium on Neumorph Center (Part 1: Opening Ceremony, Part 2: The 2nd International Symposium on Neuromorphic AI Hardware) was held online on December 7, 2020.

In the first part, we received congratulatory messages from Mr. Morio Matsunaga, the chief director of the Kitakyushu Foundation for the Advanced of Industry, Science and Technology, and Mr. Takeshi Yamakawa, the chief director of the Fuzzy Logic Systems Institute. In the second part, Professor Yoshihiko Horio of Tohoku University and Professor Wilfred G. van der Wiel of the University of Twente gave invited talks.

The symposium was a great success with many participants from inside and outside of Kyutech.

Prof. Tanaka, dean of neumorph center, gave a brief introduction of our research center at the president’s press briefing on July 30, 2020.

Many presses showed interest in our activities, and it was a great opportunity for us to deepen our understanding.

The monthly seminar of neumorph center has began on June 4, 2020. The first speaker was a visiting professor of neumorph center and distinguished professor of UCLA, Dr. James k. Gimzewski. The seminar was relayed from Los Angeles by Zoom. He talked about Atomic Switch Network (ASN), a NanoSystem with brain-like structure and functional dynamics. We had lively discussions after his talk.
