The 3rd Neumorph Seminar

The 3rd Neumorph Seminar was held online on March 24, 2021.

Dr. Shigeki Sakai from National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology gave a lecture on Basics and Applications of Transistor Type Ferroelectric Random Access Memory.

His lecture was important for the realization of neuromorphic AI hardware. We had a lively discussion in the Q&A session.

The Kick-off Symposium on Research Center for Neuromorphic AI Hardware

The kick-off symposium on Neumorph Center (Part 1: Opening Ceremony, Part 2: The 2nd International Symposium on Neuromorphic AI Hardware) was held online on December 7, 2020.

In the first part, we received congratulatory messages from Mr. Morio Matsunaga, the chief director of the Kitakyushu Foundation for the Advanced of Industry, Science and Technology, and Mr. Takeshi Yamakawa, the chief director of the Fuzzy Logic Systems Institute. In the second part, Professor Yoshihiko Horio of Tohoku University and Professor Wilfred G. van der Wiel of the University of Twente gave invited talks.

The symposium was a great success with many participants from inside and outside of Kyutech.

We Introduced Neumorph Center in the President’s Press Briefing

Prof. Tanaka, dean of neumorph center, gave a brief introduction of our research center at the president’s press briefing on July 30, 2020.

Many presses showed interest in our activities, and it was a great opportunity for us to deepen our understanding.

Our First Monthly Seminar

The monthly seminar of neumorph center has began on June 4, 2020. The first speaker was a visiting professor of neumorph center and distinguished professor of UCLA, Dr. James k. Gimzewski. The seminar was relayed from Los Angeles by Zoom. He talked about Atomic Switch Network (ASN), a NanoSystem with brain-like structure and functional dynamics. We had lively discussions after his talk.

New Visiting Professor from UCLA

Gimzewski, Distinguished Professor at UCLA, has been approved as a visiting professor at neumorph center. Prof. Gim is a prominent researcher in nanoscience and nanobiology and has recently been focusing on neuromorphic devices. He also loves Japan. We look forward to exchanging our knowledge.

The Result of NEDO Project, Robot Waiter with Brain-like AI

We have been working on the project, “The Development of the Core Technology for Next-generation AI and Robots” with New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO).

This video is a summary of the results of the research, “Physical Modeling of Hippocampus, Amygdala and Prefrontal Cortex by Analogue Method in Time Domain”.
