Invited talk on JSAP symposium
On Sep. 10th, center members (Assistant Prof. Y. Tanaka, Vice-director Prof. Tamukoh, Associate Prof. Tateno, Director Prof. H. Tanaka, Prof. Morie) gave an invited talk entitled “A brain-inspired AI hardware with functions of the hippocampus, the amygdala, and the prefrontal cortex” on JSAP symposium.
On Sep. 12th, the director Prof. H. Tanaka gave an invited talk entitled “A material intelligence from random network -In-materio physical reservoir” on the JSAP symposium.
On Sep. 13th, center members (Assistant Prof. Usami and the director Prof. H. Tanaka) gave an invited talk entitled “Physical reservoir capabilities induced by time-domain dynamics in nano-material networks” on the JSAP symposium. Additionally, the center presented 5 oral talks on the symposium.
Our research was introduced in a news paper
On July 2nd, a joint research by a research group consisting the center director, Prof. Hirofumi Tanaka, Osaka University, and Toyo University was introduced in a news paper, “the Science News.”

RoboCup@Home DSPL 2nd Place
Hibikino-Musashi@Home, a robot developing team supervised by Prof. Tamukoh, vice director of the center participated RoboCup, which was an international robot competition and hold from June 22nd to 28th, won the 2nd place at @Home DSPL.
Additionally, the team won the prizes of “Best Go, Get It! in DSPL,” “Best Test Performance (Go, Get It!),” and 1st place of Open Challenge where the team presented its research and robot demonstration.
The 5th Neumorph Seminar
The 5th Neumorph Seminar was held online on June 24, 2021.
Dr. Takao Marukame from Toshiba gave a lecture on “Brain-type hardware and R&D trends of neuromorphic devices.”
Pressed release of joint research with Osaka Univ. and Toyo Univ. was published
On June 9th, a press release of a joint research by a research group consisting the center director, Prof. Hirofumi Tanaka, Osaka University, and Toyo University was published. A paper of the research result was accepted and published in Scientific Reports.

A paper was published in frontier in Nanotechnology
On May 26th, a paper “Spoken Digit Classification by In-Materio Reservoir Computing With Neuromorphic Atomic Switch Networks” submitted by a research group of visiting professor of this center, Distinguished Prof. Jim Zewski (UCLA) was published in the academic journal “frontiers in Nanotechnology.” The journal is open access and can be viewed from the link below.

The 4th Neumorph Seminar
The 4th Neumorph Seminar was held online on April 30, 2021.
Dr. Takeshi Nishida from KiQ Robotics Corp. gave a lecture on “Reversible Automation.”
The lecture attracted a lot of attention so that 76 participants attended the seminar maximally.
